Thoracic outlet syndrome causes pain, numbness, or swelling in the arm when the nerve, artery, or vein is compressed by the first rib. It often develops in athletes, in people who exercise regularly, or in anyone who uses the arm heavily at work.

A robotic approach
Techniques have recently been developed to perform the operation robotically. The robotic view allows better division of adhesions, especially around the vein, where precision matters most.
